The Polar FT7 Heart Rate Monitor: A Tremendous Value and Loaded With Features
The Polar FT7 is just another of the great Polar heart rate monitor products recently introduced from the folks at Polar. It comes in two style and color versions
for men and women and has been a top seller since its introduction.
The FT7 comes loaded with great features you see in many of Polar’s more expensive heart rate monitor devices like graphical and audible heart rate alerts. It counts
calories burned during exercise which makes it a great watch for those who are into counting calories and burning fat.
Like most of the Polar heart rate monitor products, this watch stores 99 training files, gives you weekly history, and has the great graph features that allow you to
visually see your zone thresholds at a glance. The Polar FT7
also lets you see your heart rate as beats per minute or as a percentage of your own maximum. The heart rate monitor also displays your average and maximum heart rate for any given workout.
The FT7 also comes equipped with Polar’s Wearlink chest strap which is one of the most comfortable chest straps available and is completely flexible textile clothe
throughout its entire circumference. For people used to old heart rate monitor chest straps with hard plastic fronts this is a huge improvement.
The Polar FT7 has dual time zones and key locks to help unintended button presses from losing your data. Perhaps the one feature the watch is lacking that we would
like to see is a stop watch and that is truly one of the only weakness we have found.
We would strongly urge every FT7 buyer obtain the optional Polar
Flowlink device so you can download your work out data to your computer and keep track of your progress using Polar Personal Trainer software. That which gets measured is
that which can be improved, which is the whole point of having a heart rate monitor in the first place.
The Polar FT7 also does not connect with optional foot pods or GPS devices to measure speed and distance for cycling or running, so if you want these kinds of features in
a Polar heart rate monitor you’ll need to step up to the Polar FT60 or Polar FT80.
For good basic fitness data at the gym or running we felt this heart rate monitor was a tremendous value and the styling for men and women has proven very popular. People
always ask us if these watches tell time and, of course, they do, so you can use them as everyday watches too. They do not have to be just implicit to gym use.
Our Team at the Heart Rate Watch Company found the Polar FT7 to be a very nice heart rate monitor and we highly recommend it to anyone focused on general fitness. If you
really think you might want to step up to speed and distance down the road then look at the Polar FT80 or FT60 lines.
